The Minnesota Vikings have emerged as one of the most surprising teams in the NFL through the first two games of the season.
Despite low expectations from the national media, the Vikings have defied the odds, winning their opening two matchups, including an impressive battle against the San Francisco 49ers.
At the heart of their early success is quarterback Sam Darnold, who has exceeded expectations with his solid performances. Darnold’s play has been a pleasant surprise, providing the offensive spark the team needed.
On the other side of the ball, the Vikings’ defense has also stepped up, delivering key stops when called upon.
Though the Vikings are playing great football, there’s always room for improvement.
According to a report from Aaron Wilson on X, the team recently brought in four players for workouts: Kwon Alexander, Ekow Boye-Doe, Caleb Johnson, and Damarion Williams.
While all four players bring something intriguing to the table, Alexander stands out as the most notable name.
Kwon Alexander has made a name for himself in the league as a fierce linebacker during his time with the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, after bouncing around several teams, Alexander’s career hit a roadblock due to injury.
Last season, he was placed on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles, and the Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to retain him following the injury.
Now, Alexander is looking to make his return, and the Vikings could be a potential landing spot. If healthy, Alexander could bring much-needed experience and leadership to the team’s defense. His veteran presence in the locker room would be invaluable, and if he still has gas left in the tank, he could also become a vital contributor on the field.
For now, the Vikings will continue with their current roster as they prepare for their next challenge, hoping to extend their winning streak and improve to a 3-0 record. But with Alexander and other potential additions on their radar, the Vikings might not be done improving yet.
Their early success has been thrilling, and with some tweaks, they could be even better in the weeks ahead.
