The Minnesota Vikings are suddenly rolling and may now be buyers heading into the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, and one name to monitor is Washington Commanders edge rusher Chase Young.

This past weekend, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Commanders were fielding trade offers for both Young and fellow defensive end Montez Sweat, and this was before Washington lost to the New York Giants in Week 7.

With the Commanders now an extra loss in the hole at 3-4, they may be even more inclined to trade one of their two young pass rushers.

Max Dible of Heavy.com thinks the Vikings should take a long, hard look at Young.

Funny enough, Minnesota looked as if it could move its own top edge rusher in Danielle Hunter earlier this season, but the Vikings winning three of their last four games has changed things for the club.

Instead, Minnesota may now be looking to add a pass rusher to put alongside of Hunter. The Vikings have already logged a solid 19 sacks through seven games, so bringing in someone like Young to complement Hunter could make Minnesota’s defense pretty tough.

Young is in the final year of his deal with the Commanders after the team declined to exercise his fifth-year option for next season. That means the former No. 2 overall pick will hit free agency at season’s end, so Washington may want to trade him now in order to recoup some value for him before potentially losing him for nothing in the spring.

The 24-year-old is enjoying his most productive campaign since his rookie yar, as he has already totaled 14 tackles and five sacks in six games.

Young, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, had a very impressive rookie season in 2020, racking up 44 tackles and 7.5 sacks. However, he tore his ACL nine games into 2021, and between 2021 and 2022, the Upper Marlboro, Md. native amassed a grand total of 1.5 sacks.

Chase Young appears rejuvenated this season, and the Vikings could end up reaping the benefits by the end of the month.
