4. Chuba Hubbard: RB, Oklahoma State
Hubbard had an enormous 2019 season for the Cowboys. He finished as the nation’s leading rusher with 2,094 yards on 328 carries. He scored 21 touchdowns and averaged 6.4 yards per carry. Even after all of that production, Hubbard finished eighth in the Heisman voting in 2019 and was the third highest running back.
Both Jonathan Taylor and J.K. Dobbins finished above Hubbard in the Heisman voting. With both of them preparing to play on Sunday’s, this leaves Hubbard with only one true threat at the running back position. Clemson’s Travis Etienne opted to stay in school rather than enter the draft. He finished ninth in voting a season ago, which was one space behind Hubbard.
Hubbard is here. He has arrived as one of the top running backs in the nation. The Doan Walker award was given to Taylor in 2018 and 2019. Hubbard is one of the favorites to take home that honor in 2020 and he could possibly add to it with a Heisman Trophy.
Even if Hubbard does not win the award, it is likely that he puts up big enough numbers to earn an invitation to the ceremony. Oklahoma State is a fast paced offense that likes to score points. This all works in Hubbard’s favor.
