3. Sam Ehlinger: QB, Texas

Ehlinger is still at Texas? It feels like he has been there for 15 years. Well, he has one more year and that means Texas will be competitive. Ehlinger had his best season with his arm in 2019 and put up the most yards with his legs as well.

In 2019, Ehlinger threw for 3,663 yards with 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He ran for 663 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2018, Ehlinger ran for 16 touchdowns and threw just five interceptions. Ehlinger has been consistent during his career at Texas, but the Longhorns always seem to lose the big game.

Last season, Texas lost ranked matchups against LSU, Oklahoma, and Baylor. They also fell to Iowa State on the road. In 2018, they fell to ranked opponents West Virginia and Oklahoma. They sprinkled in losses to Maryland and Oklahoma State. Sensing a trend? Ehlinger will have to cut down the losses and create a few Heisman moments.

The best way to do that is to beat some ranked opponents. The Longhorns will have plenty of chances to do that in 2020 and if they do, Ehlinger could shock the nation and find himself in New York for the Heisman ceremony.
