5. Roger McCreary, Auburn
McCreary is the top returning player for Auburn. In 2019, he came up with an interception, a fumble recovery, and 11 pass deflections. He has emerged as a top prospect at the cornerback position.
With the departures of Noah Igbinoghene and Javaris Davis, McCreary will be the best corner on the team by a large margin. He served as the primary backup to Igbinoghene and Davis as a sophomore. During his junior year, McCreary will be responsible for covering the opposing team’s top wide receiver.
McCreary has played in 21 games during his time at Auburn. He has started just one game and might have put up his best performance. Auburn traveled to take on LSU and McCreary finished with 10 tackles and an interception with the Tigers deep inside the red zone. He was given a defensive rating of 78.0 and a coverage rating of 81.1, according to Pro Football Focus.
Auburn, like most SEC schools, are known for their prowess on the defensive side of the ball. McCreary will continue that trend in 2020.
