NCAA Football: Ranking the top 5 running backs in the SEC

Kylin Hill, Mississippi State, Bulldogs, NCAA Football

2. Kylin Hill, Mississippi St.

Mississippi St. finished 6-7 and lost the Music City Bowl to Louisville. This led to Joe Moorhead being fired and the Bulldogs adding one of the top offensive coaches in the nation. Mike Leach will now be on the sidelines for Mississippi St. and that means nothing but good things for Hill.

Hill really emerged as a star during his junior year. He carried the ball 242 times for 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns. Hill was also used in the passing game, catching 18 passes for 180 yards and a score. He managed to do all of this without a strong offensive line and little room to run. Hill has incredible play making ability.

Mississippi St. made their premiere back better before the season even begins by hiring Leach. Hill could be as high as a second round pick in the NFL and that is if Leach fine tunes his game. There is no doubt that Leach will find a way to improve Hill as a pass catcher and get him the ball in many different ways. Washington St. was one of the top passing teams in the nation under Leach. The Pac-12 is much different than the SEC, but that does not mean that his coaching style will change.

Hill is an explosive runner. He is strong with the ball with great speed and acceleration. Heading into the season, Hill can be viewed as a dark-horse candidate to win the Heisman Trophy.
