The New England Patriots are in dire need of help in their receiving corps, and the Denver Broncos may have the solution in the form of Jerry Jeudy.
Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton suggests that the Patriots trade a fourth-round draft pick to the Broncos in exchange for Jeudy, which would help New England shore up its aerial attack while also providing some salary cap relief for Denver.
Jeudy has one year remaining on his deal and is slated to earn just under $13 million in 2024. He has been a rather significant disappointment in the Mile High City and has been the subject of trade rumors in the past, so the Broncos may very well try to move him this offseason.
The 24-year-old played in 16 games this past season, catching 54 passes for 758 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
While those aren’t bad numbers, it isn’t the type of production Denver hoped it would be getting when it took Jeudy with the 15th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Jeudy, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, appeared in every contest during his rookie campaign and logged 52 catches for 856 yards and three scores in what was a relatively impressive debut.
However, the following year, injuries limited Jeudy to just 10 games, and during that time, he snared 38 balls for 467 yards without reaching the end zone.
Jeudy then proceeded to enjoy the best season of his career to date in 2022, hauling in 67 receptions for 972 yards and six touchdowns.
Clearly, the Deerfield Beach, Fl. native took a step back this past season, and he has never developed into the No. 1 receiver that many expected when he come out of college.
As a matter of fact, one can argue that Jeudy isn’t even a dependable No. 2 guy on a legitimate contender right now.
But, Jerry Jeudy is still young and has talent, so perhaps a change of scenery would do him some good and allow him to flourish.
