New England Patriots predicted to sign AJ Green in free agency

The New England Patriots are going to be looking to make some changes this offseason. After failing to make the playoffs in their first year without Tom Brady, they will be looking for upgrades to the offense. AJ Green could be a name to keep a close eye on.

Green is set to hit free agency once again after a very successful career with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he is coming off of a down season and no one truly knows how much he has left in the tank.

During the 2020 NFL season with the Bengals thus far in 15 games, Green has caught 47 passes for 523 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers are not what fans were hoping to see. A change of scenery could help him turn things around.

At 32 years old, Green is in the final years of his career. He will be looking for a team that he can have a big role with as well as compete for a Super Bowl. The Patriots are hoping to get to that point again next year.

FanSided took a look at Green’s upcoming free agency and they have predicted that he will end up signing with the Patriots.

Cam Newton took over as the starting quarterback in New England this year. He showed some signs of his old self, but his passing was not up to par. On the year, has has completed 65.4 percent of his pass attempts for 2,415 yards, five touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Bill Belichick will likely look for a new starting quarterback. Some think Jarrett Stidham could take over, while others believe a free agent or rookie could be the starter. Bringing in help at wide receiver will be imperative.

It appears likely that Julian Edelman will be leaving town this offseason. That would leave the Patriots with N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, and Damiere Byrd as their top wideouts, assuming all of them stay. AJ Green would be able to come in and take over as the top wideout immediately.

Other teams will have interest in signing Green as well. Among them could be the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts. Both of those teams could offer Green a much better chance to compete for a championship.

Expect to see the Patriots look to make quite a few moves. They are going to be busy this coming offseason. Green might end up being a serious target.
