This year’s free agency saw a ton of player movement at the wide receiver position. Players were changing addresses at a rapid pace, as we even saw two of the best in the game, Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill, get traded this offseason as well. Now, there are plenty of teams needing new wide receiver talent and the New England Patriots are one of those teams.
Plenty of teams will have new weapons to use this upcoming season, but there will still be more opportunities to upgrade the position. The 2022 NFL Draft is deep at wide receiver and there are still a handful of veterans available that can produce. One of those veterans still available to sign is Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham had a roller-coaster season in 2021. Things were disastrous with the Cleveland Browns to the point they just cut him. He couldn’t have landed in a better situation, as he signed with the Los Angeles Rams and took over the No. 2 role in their offense behind Cooper Kupp after Robert Woods went down with an injury.
Anyone who thought it was Beckham’s fault how things went down in Cleveland was proven wrong by his performance in Los Angeles. He did everything that was asked of him and once he got comfortable in the offense he began looking more like his old self.
Unfortunately, he suffered a serious injury in the Super Bowl. Beckham tore his ACL, which couldn’t have come at a worse time. He was part of a Super Bowl-winning team but was entering free agency coming off of an injury.
Because of the injury, his market has been slow to develop. No one knows how much time of the season he will miss, so signing him is a high-risk proposition. He will eventually get signed, but by who?
One of the teams that have been mentioned is the New England Patriots. They need some weapons for Mac Jones to throw the ball to, but their odds of landing Beckham aren’t very high. According to Odds Checker US, the Patriots are +500 to land Beckham.
Those odds are tied for fourth with the Buffalo Bills. The betting favorites to land Beckham are his hometown New Orleans Saints at +300. Following them are the Baltimore Ravens at +350 and Las Vegas Raiders at +400. The final team listed is the Indianapolis Colts at +800.
All six teams present interesting landing spots for Beckham. He would arguably be the No. 1 option in New England and at least a top-two option in New Orleans and Indianapolis. He could move into a top-two role with the Bills and Ravens. In Las Vegas, he would be lucky to be the No. 2 wide receiver, let alone second in the pecking order for targets.
One team conspicuously missing from the list is the Green Bay Packers. They were in the running for him when he was released last season and no longer having Davante Adams in the fold, they would make for a logical landing spot.
