The Denver Broncos are one of the biggest winners of the NFL offseason. They were able to pry Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in one of what turned out to be many blockbuster trades this offseason.

Denver traded quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris as part of the deal, along with five draft picks. Two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick were included, while Denver received a

All things considered, this is a great deal for Denver. It was reported that the Chicago Bears offered three starters and at least three first-round picks for Wilson last offseason, but Seattle declined. If that is true, the Broncos got a little bit of a steal in this deal.

With that sizable upgrade at quarterback, the Broncos are now in a position to compete in a loaded AFC West for the division title. If they can make it through that gauntlet, they are a team that will contend for a Super Bowl.

That level of team success and turnaround, after the team went 7-10 last season, would garner Wilson a lot of attention for accolades. He has never won the MVP award, but if he could lead the Broncos to a division title, it could be in his future.

Sportsbooks have taken notice of the change as well. Wilson’s odds to win MVP have been adjusted drastically since the trade. Wilson now sits at +1200 to win the MVP award for the 2022 season.

That puts him in a tie with Joe Burrow for the fifth-best odds to take home the award. Before the trade, his odds were +2500, sitting in a tie with Derrick Henry and having eight players ahead of him on the list.

The only players ahead of Wilson are Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert. Allen is the odds on favorite at +750, with Mahomes at +800. Brady, Rodgers and Herbert are in a three-way tie with +1000 odds.

Since Denver finished last in the AFC West last season, they will have an advantage over their divisional rivals schedule-wise. That could be enough to give Russell Wilson an edge at the end of the season, as the division race will be hotly contested throughout the season.
