The last few months have been a roller coaster ride for Odell Beckham Jr. Things didn’t go well with the Cleveland Browns and despite not being traded ahead of the deadline, still found himself able to start anew with a different franchise.
The Browns cut Beckham, allowing him to sign wherever he pleased. This was the start of building up to the peak of his ride, as Beckham signed with the Los Angeles Rams. Within days of signing, Beckham was thrust into the No. 2 role in the offense following Robert Woods tearing his ACL.
It took a little while for Beckham to get acclimated, but once he did, he showed that he still had plenty left in the tank. Whatever issues persisted in Cleveland he was able to put behind him as he fit in well with the Rams.
Beckham helped the Rams win Super Bowl 56, but he was unable to finish the game. He suffered a torn ACL, which is another valley on this roller coaster. That injury has led to a cold market in free agency, as teams are unsure how soon he will be able to get back on the field and help them win games.
With free agency now in its second and third wave, however, we could start to see Beckham’s market heat up. One team to keep an eye on in the Beckham sweepstakes is the New Orleans Saints.
His hometown team, as he played collegiately at LSU, would be a great landing spot for him. According to Odds Checker US, the Saints are the odds on favorites to sign Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason. New Orleans’ odds of landing Beckham are currently at +300.
The Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders are close behind with odds of +350 and +400, respectively. The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots are tied at +500 next, with the Indianapolis Colts at +800 rounding out the list.
In New Orleans, Odell Beckham Jr. would be able to assume the No. 2 role behind Michael Thomas once he is healthy. That is likely the role he is best suited for at this point in his career, as he still has plenty left in the tank but isn’t the same dominant receiver he was with the New York Giants.
Likely looking for a one-year prove-it deal so that he can jump back into free agency again next offseason, the Saints are a solid landing spot for him to have ample opportunity to produce some good numbers.
