New Orleans Saints: 3 Best Performances from Week 5 Win vs. Washington

No folks, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. I haven’t switched allegiances. It takes a lot to get my out of my comfort zone writing about the Miami Dolphins, but a historic performance will do the trick. Especially one from one of my favorite non-Dolphins players, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. It was only a matter of time before Brees took his seat at the top of the all-time passing list, and tonight was finally that night.

Brees and the Saints took control early tonight against Washington. And, unlike other teams, they kept their foot on the gas the entire night. Tonight was a completely dominating performance on both sides of the ball.

Brees is going to get the headlines, and rightfully so. But it was a total team effort tonight. You don’t score 43 points and hold the opponent under 20 without everyone doing their job, and doing it well. Not only was Brees firing on all cylinders, but the Saints much-maligned defense showed up in a big way. If they can continue to play like this the rest of the season, the NFC just got a lot more interesting.

Obviously Drew Brees was the best performance of the night. He operated with the surgical precision that has marked his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career. Who else put up a performance worthy of being mentioned in the same article? Here are my 3 best performances from the New Orleans Saints victory.
