4. Receiving Weapons
If you have followed the New Orleans Saints the last two years, you will know that Michael Thomas is one of the key pieces in the team’s offense by catching 92 passes his rookie year and 104 last year totaling over 2,300 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is undoubtedly going to be a huge piece for the team in 2018, but he finally seems to have gotten some help.
The Saints made one of the quietest, yet biggest moves this offseason by signing Cameron Meredith away from the Chicago Bears. Meredith missed the 2017 season with a torn ACL, but had a breakout 2016 season with 888 yards and four scores on 66 receptions with four different quarterbacks (Jay Cutler, David Fales, Brian Hoyer, and Matt Barkley). With a Hall of Fame quarterback like Drew Brees throwing to him, Meredith should be that much better.
Alvin Kamara should make a big difference in the passing game again as well as free agent signee Shane Vereen. Ted Ginn Jr. is also a reliable weapon at slot as well as darkhorse Brandon Coleman, who averaged 15.8 yards per catch with three scores in 2017.
