New York Giants: 3 Best Individual Performances from Week 3 vs. Texans

Andrew Weber, USA TODAY Sports

Eli Manning 25-29, 297 Yards, 2 Touchdowns

When a team is able to put up 27 points in a contest, their QB usually has a nice outing. That was the case, as Eli Manning put his first two weeks of poor play behind him.

Manning looked more comfortable, despite playing a talented defense in the Texans. I know the Texans are 0-3 and their defense hasn’t played up to par this year yet, but they have loads of talent on defense.

J.J. Watt mustered up three sacks on the day, with the Texans getting four sacks on Manning in Week 3. That’s not great, but it was in fact an improvement from last week, allowing six sacks against the Dallas Cowboys.

Giants fans asked for an improvement on the offensive line, and technically they delivered. Whether it was because of the benching of Ereck Flowers, you can be the judge of that.

Now back to Manning, he had a very solid performance. He finished with 297 yards and two touchdowns, while throwing just four incomplete passes. That’s impressive for a guy who looked like he had nothing left, through the first couple of weeks.

With all of the weapons he has at his disposal, Manning should be able to have outings like this regularly. We’ll see if he can continue this momentum in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints.
