Saquon Barkley, Running Back
Rookie running back Saquon Barkley was at the forefront of much of the Giants’ offensive success on Sunday, particularly through the air. He also finished with 48 yards on 15 carries, but it was in the passing game where the second overall draft pick did the most damage.
Barkley caught four passes for 81 yards and two TDs, including a 57-yard scoring strike from wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (yes, you read that right) on this play:
Barkley also caught the previously mentioned 15-yard TD pass from Eli Manning that gave the Giants their first lead since the opening quarter at the 1:08 mark of the fourth quarter. So he was certainly a major part of New York’s near comeback.
The only question now is whether Barkley will be ready for Thursday night’s game against the Eagles after hurting his back on his fourth-quarter TD reception. Early indications are that the injury isn’t serious, but there’s obviously still room for concern.
