Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver
We already discussed Odell Beckham Jr.’s TD pass, which was the first of his career. But he also made some sensational plays at his usual position, finishing with eight receptions for 131 yards and a score.
Beckham did contribute to a Panthers TD when the ball inadvertently bounced off his leg on a punt return and Carolina was ultimately able to recover the ball in the end zone. But the pros outweighed the cons in terms of his overall play on Sunday.
The trick play that led to Beckham’s passing TD is what has received the most attention, and rightly so. But don’t expect the fifth-year pro to be replacing Eli Manning at quarterback anytime soon, despite his perfect QB rating against the Panthers.
Going forward, Beckham will continue to be a focal point of the Giants’ offense. He has been ever since he arrived in the NFL. Sunday’s performance was just the latest in a long line of spectacular games for the eccentric wide receiver.
