New York Giants: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 10 vs. 49ers

Get the Ball in Your Playmaker’s Hands

Of course I am talking about Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham when I say “playmakers”. These have been the only consistent weapons for the Giants this season.

Barkley is putting himself in the discussion as being a top 5 running back in his rookie season. He is one of five running backs this year to have 500 or more rushing yards and 300 or more receiving yards.

That class of players include Todd Gurley, James Conner, Kareem Hunt and Christian McCaffrey. That’s not a bad group to be in as a rookie.

The Giants need to continue utilizing him in both the aerial attack and ground game, as he is one of the most dynamic backs in the NFL.

For Beckham, it’s tougher to find ways for him to get the ball, as Manning has been incapable of pushing the ball downfield consistently this year.

That means Beckham is relied upon to make huge plays on slants and screen passes, which he has done this season. The Giants don’t need to absolutely force the ball to Beckham, as they have Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard as well.

The Giants do need to give Beckham the ball as much as possible though, as he is one of the most exciting players with the ball in his hand.

It’d be nice to see the Giants try to take shots downfield, allowing Beckham to showcase his ability to win those 50/50 balls.

To improve to 2-7 on the year, the Giants will need a healthy dose of Barkley and Beckham on Monday.
