Make Dak Prescott Uncomfortable
Last week, the Giants didn’t create much pressure on Blake Bortles at all. They came out of the game with just one sack. Bortles had a clean pocket to throw from for the majority of the game. The Jaguars passing game wasn’t great, but due to the lack of pressure, they were able to do enough to come out with the win.
A pass rush will be needed from the Giants defense from the first snap of the game. The Giants were hoping their best sack artist, Olivier Vernon would be active this game. They have officially ruled him out, forcing other guys to step up in his place for another week. Hopefully, guys like B.J Goodson, Lorenzo Carter, Kareem Martin, and Connor Barwin can improve from last week.
It will be crucial to make the Cowboys’ third-year QB, Dak Prescott, uncomfortable in the pocket all game. They will also need to be disciplined in doing so, as Prescott can create plays with his legs. The Cowboys also lost in Week 1, losing 16-8 against the Carolina Panthers. Prescott looked shaky last week, finishing with 170 yards on 29 attempts. The Cowboys looked to be out of sorts, looking for someone to help replace the production that Dez Bryant and Jason Witten with no success.
The Giants need to take advantage of a Cowboys offense who’s trying to find their true identity still. If the Giants can muster up some pressure on Prescott, they could have the Cowboys sitting at 0-2 to begin the season. That would put a glowing smile on all of the faces of New York fans.
