Eli Manning Needs to Step Up
The biggest issue this season, has been the lack of big plays coming out of the offense. That shouldn’t be when you have Saquon Barkley, Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram.
You can’t throw drag routes to Beckham or a screen to Barkley and expect it to be a big play every time. You need to open it up and throw downfield.
You’re not going to be successful every throw downfield, but it makes a defense stay honest. It can also set up plays for the offense, like play-action or draw plays. It’s not rocket science.
As of now, Eli Manning ranks as the 23rd QB in yards per attempt (7.23 yards). He has to start taking shots downfield to help this offense improve.
I know the offensive line hasn’t impressed, but even when Manning has time to throw he’s missing guys badly.
Currently, Manning has 1,662 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. Just six touchdowns? That is inexcusable with the arsenal he has on this offense.
For the Giants to come out on top this week, Manning will need to start improving his play drastically. If not, it may be time to move on from him very soon.
