New York Giants: 3 Players to Watch in Preseason Week 3 vs. Jets

USA TODAY Sports

Evan Engram, Tight End

Evan Engram, like Gallman, is in his sophomore season in the NFL. Engram is a very talented tight end, that is very dangerous in the passing game. Last season, Engram had a strong showing in his rookie year with 64 receptions for 722 yards and six touchdowns. Not too bad for a tight end.

Engram is essentially a receiver playing tight end which makes him a huge weapon for Eli Manning. The Giants head coach Pat Shurmur loves to use his tight ends as a key part of the offense. Just look at the last two seasons for Kyle Rudolph while Shurmur was the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Engram should be a key contributor in the new look Giants offense.

It’s uncertain how much playing time the starters will get this week, but Engram should begin the game on the field. It would be nice for the second year tight end to get in-game work with Manning at the helm, but a few reps nonetheless should help Engram. Last week, Engram didn’t play much but had two catches for 13 yards. Look for Engram to be a focal point coming into this week.
