New York Giants: 3 Trades That Should Happen Before the Deadline

USA TODAY Sports

Trade Janoris Jenkins

If the Giants are going to have a fire sale, why not move Janoris Jenkins? Jenkins is a CB who will be turning 30 years old tomorrow.

It’s hard to keep a 30-year old CB on a rebuilding roster, especially when he’ll be making $20+ million over the next two seasons combined.

Jenkins could garner a higher draft pick than either Apple or Harrison. There is plenty of teams that would love to have a talent like Jenkins on their team.

Since coming into the league in 2012, Jenkins has four seasons with three or more interceptions. At this point of his career, he isn’t as athletic, but he’s still a solid CB.

Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers are all looking for help in their secondaries. A guy like Jenkins could give a huge boost to those teams.

I think Jenkins could get the Giants anywhere from a third round pick to a fifth round pick. To me, it’s worth it to get rid of Jenkins bulky contract for a team that isn’t going anywhere this season.

With Patrick Peterson saying he wants to remain with the Arizona Cardinals, I believe Jenkins is likely the best CB on the market now.

The Giants should continue to sell at the deadline and I believe Jenkins should be included in that.
