New York Giants: 3 Trades That Should Happen Before the Deadline

USA TODAY Sports

Trade for Cedric Ogbuehi

It seems like Cedric Ogbuehi is on his last straw for the Cincinnati Bengals. It would be hard to think the Bengals wouldn’t take a sixth or seventh round pick for him at this point.

Ogbuehi was the Bengals first round pick (21st overall) in 2015. He hasn’t panned out in Cincinnati, leaving him on the bench behind Bobby Hart at right tackle.

The Giants cut Ereck Flowers earlier this season, after trying him out at right tackle. Chad Wheeler has been starting at right tackle since, but has had his struggles as well.

The offensive line has been a glaring issue all season for the G-Men. Why not try to improve your offensive line with a low-risk/high-reward trade?

Ogbuehi was a very talented tackle at Texas A&M, thus why he was taken in the first round of the draft a few years ago.

Hopefully Nate Solder figures things out going forward, while rookie Will Hernandez continues to get better. If Ogbuehi works out, it’d be a huge addition to a weak Giants offensive line.

I know the Giants are 1-6, but you still have to plan for the future. Small, subtle moves like this can change the trajectory of the team in future years (of course if it works out, but that’s every trade ever made).

Trading for Ogbuehi could prove to be very beneficial for a Giants team searching for help in the trenches.
