Giants Among Favorites To Land Russell Wilson

The New York Giants will probably be making a change at quarterback this offseason, and Russell Wilson is not out of the question for them.

Bet365 gives the Giants’ the fifth-best chance to land Wilson if and when the Denver Broncos release him this offseason, putting their odds at +1100. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders.

New York handed Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million contract extension last offseason after he enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 campaign in which he led the Giants to the playoffs and won a road playoff game, but he struggled mightily early on this season before ultimately tearing his ACL.

Jones’ injury may very well have spelled the end of his tenure as Big Blue’s starting quarterback, and now, the Giants may have a chance to add Wilson.

The Broncos benched Wilson for the final two games of the regular season after he refused to defer his $37 million injury guarantee. They are now expected to cut him this offseason.

Could Wilson end up in the Big Apple?

Several years back while Wilson was playing for the Seattle Seahawks, there were rumors that he was interested in playing for the Giants, so the two sides linking up may not be out of the realm of possibility.

Of course, Wilson is a few years older now, and he will almost surely prioritize winning another Super Bowl. While bringing Wilson into the fold would certainly make New York better, it probably would not elevate the club to legitimate contender status, so whether or not the 35-year-old would still be interested in joining the Giants is anyone’s guess.

Wilson is coming off of a solid season in which he threw for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 66.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 98.

We’ll see if New York tries to outbid other teams for Russell Wilson assuming he ends up getting released this offseason.
