The 2022 season is an important one for the New York Giants. With a new front office and coaching staff in place, this will be the season for numerous players to show that they should be part of the team beyond this season.

Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will be evaluating all of the players on the team and seeing where they need to upgrade. The player with arguably the most pressure on them this season is quarterback Daniel Jones.

Dave Gettleman made a concerted effort to upgrade the weapons around Jones last season, but his play still took a step back. The offensive line wasn’t great, which Schoen has addressed in free agency.

The Giants are expected to address the trenches with their first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. They currently own No. 5 and 7, but over at CBS Sports, their recent mock draft has New York making a big trade.

They are projecting the Giants to use the No. 5 overall pick on Alabama OT Evan Neal before trading the No. 7 overall pick to the Los Angeles Chargers. In that trade, the Giants trade No. 7 pick and a sixth-round pick in 2023 to the Chargers in exchange for No. 17, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2023 fifth-round pick.

With the 17th pick, CBS Sports believes the Giants will add another weapon for Jones to throw the ball to in USC wide receiver, Drake London. London is a big receiver, standing 6’5” and weighing 210 pounds.

He was dominant with the Trojans, catching 88 passes for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns in only eight games. London used his size to his advantage, leading college football with 19 contested catches, which will translate to the next level.

At the very least, London will be a red-zone weapon right out of the gate. Kenny Golladay was a major disappointment his first season with the Giants and they used a first-round pick on Kadarius Toney last year as well. Adding London to that group will give Jones an explosive, diverse set of skill position players that he will be set up to succeed with.
