New York Giants: 3 Reasons Why Odell Beckham’s Contract Is a Bargain

Production on the Field

Beckham has made himself one of the best WRs in the NFL since coming into the league in 2014. Since 2014, Beckham has 313 receptions, 4,424 yards, and 38 touchdowns. That’s stunning when you consider the fact he missed a vast majority of the season last year.

OBJ has cemented himself in the NFL record books already. Beckham became the fastest WR in NFL history to record 300 receptions. He also tied Hall-of-Famer, Lance Alworth to becoming the fastest WR in history to reach 4,000 receiving yards. I know it’s a different league now, but not even Jerry Rice or Randy Moss got off to a start like OBJ. Time will tell if he’ll be mentioned with the greats when his career is complete.

Eli Manning is also directly affected by Beckham’s presence on the field. Manning is a completely different QB when Beckham is absent from the offense. Here is a graphic from Graham Barfield on Twitter, showing how Manning has performed with/without Beckham since 2015.

OBJ is definitely one of the most valuable non-QBs in the NFL. You don’t need to see this graphic to know that. The Giants offense looked abysmal after Beckham went down with an injury last year. This year we’ll hopefully see the return of a healthy OBJ. With his jaw-dropping, one-handed catches and his exuberant personality, he’s made tons of money for himself and the Giants. The thing is, the Giants got the complete package of an exciting player, for a bargain price.
