New York Jets: 4 Reasons They Can Have an Elite RB Committee in 2018

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Play Ability of Isaiah Crowell

With a broken down Matt Forte leaving through retirement, the Jets upgraded by adding former Brown Isaiah Crowell. Crowell has 23 runs of 20+ yards since he entered the league in 2014 – the sixth most of any player in that span.

He’s turned 3.12 percent of his carries into 20+ yard gains – the third highest rate among the 16 backs with 700+ carries since 2014. All in all, since he entered the league, Crowell is 13th in rushing yards and 14th in rushing touchdowns. Over the last two seasons, he ranks eighth in yards per carry among the 22 backs with at least 300 carries.

We discussed Powell’s ball security, and Crowell also has been strong in that department. He only has three fumbles over the past three seasons, fumbling 0.44 percent of his touches. That’s the lowest rate among the 25 backs with at least 500 touches in that span.
