The Receiving Ability of Elijah McGuire

McGuire could miss the season opener due to injury, but is on track to return in time for Week 2 at the latest. McGuire, a sixth round selection in the 2017 Draft out of Louisiana-Lafayette, saw himself become a big factor in the receiving game. He caught 17 of 26 targets on the year for 177 yards and one touchdown.

McGuire converted 10 of his 26 targets (38.4 percent) into first downs – among the 63 backs with at least as many targets in 2017, only two (Devonta Freeman and Damien Williams) had a higher first down rate. His 10.4 yards per reception average ranked 12th of 72 running backs with at least 15 catches.
