The 2021 NFL season did not go as the New York Jets had hoped. Obviously, they didn’t end up making the playoffs and their attention has shifted to the upcoming offseason. It looks like the Jets are planning for a busy offseason, including potentially in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

According to a report from Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the Jets are already looking to trade their first-round pick. That select would come at No. 10 overall.

“It’s too early to know anything, but I’ve heard rumblings that the Jets prefer to trade this pick if they can.”

New York currently has two first-round picks in this draft. They will also be on the clock with the No. 4 overall pick. It makes sense to move the No. 10 pick to get more selections or a player that can help them immediately.

Everything that the Jets do this offseason should be focused on improving the roster around young quarterback Zach Wilson. Some fans already believe that Wilson is a bust, but he showed quite a few good things in his rookie year. Wilson is without a doubt the quarterback for the foreseeable future for the Jets.

There could be quite a bit of trade action this coming offseason. Teams will look to make some sizable moves to work their way back to being playoff contender. Other teams will be forced to sell due to financial situations.

If the Jets play their cards right this offseason, they could be a team to watch next year. They have quite a few great pieces in place and are a big offseason away from being a sleeper postseason contender. Granted, that’s easier said than done, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

Expect to see quite a few teams looking to make moves in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The NFL is usually very busy in the first round, but this could be an even more active year than normal. It sounds like the Jets will certainly be one team looking to wheel and deal.
