The 2024 NFL schedule was released on Wednesday night, and it revealed that we are going to be seeing a whole lot of the New York Jets.

The Jets will have six primetime games over the first 11 weeks of the NFL season, making them the first team in league history to achieve that feat.

New York will kick off its regular season with a clash against the San Francisco 49ers, which will certainly be a big test for the Jets right off the bat.

There is no question that Gang Green will be one of the most intriguing clubs in football in 2024.

New York was supposed to be interesting last season, too. After all, it acquired Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers last spring.

Upon landing Rodgers, the Jets were immediately labeled Super Bowl contenders by some. At the very least, it looked like New York would be going back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.

However, Rodgers ended up tearing his Achilles on the Jets’ first offensive series of the regular season, putting a swift end to New York’s championship aspirations.

The Jets ended up going 7-10 with Zach Wilson taking the majority of snaps under center. They were very good defensively, ranking third in the NFL in that category, but they were almost unwatchable offensively, finishing 31st in yardage and 29th in scoring.

But Gang Green is reloading.

New York has been very busy this offseason, adding some weapons for Rodgers while also addressing what had been a putrid offensive line. The Jets even improved their defense, which was already the squad’s strong point.

It also helps that New York plays in a very winnable division.

The Buffalo Bills have won four straight AFC East titles, but they have been severely weakened this offseason. The Miami Dolphins should be good, but they lost numerous key pieces defensively, and questions remain about their ability to beat playoff-caliber teams and win in colder weather. Then there is the New England Patriots, who will likely be one of the worst teams in the league again.

Case in point, the division should be wide open for the taking, and the Jets may very well end up on top.

We’ll see if New York lives up to its billing heading into 2024.
