Bold Prediction 1: Philip Rivers will throw for 400 passing yards

The Colts have a lot of very good wide receivers. TY Hilton is going to be coming back with a vengeance after some key drops last week. Philip Rivers has shown, despite the change of scenery he is still a gunslinger.

Last week, the Vikings were completely dismantled by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense. While Rivers may not be a precise as Rodgers, he will be slinging the ball and testing this secondary this week. 400 yards is not out of the question.

Bold Prediction 2: Philip Rivers will throw the ball 50 times

While it was very unexpected, the Colts took to the air a lot last week against Jacksonville. Despite the Colts dominant offensive line and the fact the Colts were ahead or tied for a majority of the game, Rivers still threw the ball 46 times.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Taylor was the lead back with 9 carries. This week the Colts will need to throw the ball more because this Vikings offense can put up points. In a shootout game where both offenses are clicking, Rivers may throw the ball upwards of 50 times.

Final Word: Despite his age, Rivers still has the same gunslinger mentality he had when he came into the league. While many times this is a good thing, sometimes it does cause problems.

Rivers may have to turn the mentality down a notch or two because the Colts are more built as a conservative offense that runs the ball and controls the clock. If the Colts want a playoff spot this year, Rivers has to minimize the turnovers.
