The NFC South was one of just two conferences, along the with NFC East, to have three of the four teams lose in Week 1. The New Orleans Saints were the lone team to get a win in their first game and they did it against divisional foe Tampa Bay.
There was some good quarterback play and some inconsistent play. Let’s go through the division quickly. First, Drew Brees finished 18-30 for 160 yards and two touchdowns. These are numbers that are low for Brees but the Saints were able to score 34 points. His opponent in the game was Tom Brady.
After a smooth first drive leading to a touchdown, Brady threw two bad interceptions. His timing and connections looked off in his first game in Tampa Bay.
Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons fell behind early and big in their game against the Seattle Seahawks. The ball was in the air a lot and this led to Ryan having the biggest numbers in Week 1 with 450 yards on 37-54 passing. Teddy Bridgewater put up a strong debut in Carolina in a losing effort. The Panthers scored 30 points behind 270 yards and a touchdown from their quarterback.
Heading into Week 2, eyes will be on Brady in his second game with the Bucs. The NFC South has some lite quarterback talent and here are two predictions for each player in their second game.
