We venture into week two of the NFL season with questions of NFC West quarterbacks still looming. While Kyler Murray was dazzling at moments against a tough 49ers defense, there is still room to grow. Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo left crucial points on the board against the Cardinals. While he wasn’t necessarily bad, Jared Goff needs to show more this week against the Eagles. However, with these questions looming one answer is clear, Russell Wilson is an MVP candidate this season.
Last week was exciting for most teams in this division. All the games were relatively close. The NFC West could be the toughest division in football. Dropping two early games will be crucial, and every game matters when the hunt for the playoffs could be this tight.
The 49ers are facing a Jets team that looked very out of sorts last week. Garoppolo and the rest of the 49ers’ offense should feast on this suspect Jets defense. However, they have to be careful, this could be a trap game.
Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray have two very similar styles of play. They are both have incredible improvisational skills. They are masters of chaos and when the heat is on, they stay cool. Both QB’s are facing defenses with a lot to prove this week.
The Patriots lost a lot of key veterans in the offseason and must prove they are still an elite defense. Meanwhile, Washington’s young defense is here to prove they are legit. Both Wilson and Murray have to be careful this week.
While he is not a bad QB, Jared Goff has not yet lived up to his contract. The 25 year-old QB was very average last week against Dallas. He needs to limit the turnovers and capitalize on big plays when available. Sean McVay has a great system to get the most out of his players.
If Goff cannot deliver the Rams may have to think about Goff’s future with the Rams over the offseason. This week Los Angeles is going against a stout Eagles defense, coming off a tough loss. Goff needs to show he is the future of this franchise, and he needs to do it this week.
Let’s take a look at two bold predictions for each quarterback in the NFC South during Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season.
