Daniel Jones
Jones Will Regress from His Good Rookie Season
Daniel Jones impressed many and validated his high draft slot with an impressive rookie campaign where he threw for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns to only 12 interceptions.
In his first year in the NFL and taking over for Giants legend Eli Manning, that was a good start to his tenure. Unfortunately, things are going to get tougher in 2020. New York did not do much to improve in the offseason as far as free agency.
The Giants added Andrew Thomas in the draft to help fill in on the offensive line but did not add more weapons for Jones. As teams figure out Jones’ game more and sell out to stop Saquon Barkley’s new coach Joe Judge will have his work cut out for him this year.
Jones Will Lead the NFL in Times Being Sacked
Despite upgrading the offensive line Daniel Jones is going to enter a sophomore slump this year and wind up on his back more times than any other quarterback in the NFL. This is not an honor you want to have throughout a season, but somebody must claim it.
While Andrew Thomas was good, he is still a rookie and could be subject to some rocky starts as he learns the ropes. A new coach working on managing the offense and getting plays and drives together could make for some bad decisions.
This will be a year Jones will quickly want to forget as he gets hit early and often. Daniel Jones was tied for the 8th highest sack percentage in 2019, and that number will only rise.
