Dwayne Haskins
Drastic Improvements from Rookie Season
Dwayne Haskins had a rough entry into the NFL during his rookie season. He was taken in the first round and felt that he had a chip on his shoulder after he dropped farther in the draft than some of his competitors. He did not end up starting the season as the quarterback for Washington and did not get his chance to lead the team until Week 8.
He struggled with accuracy and decision making, throwing 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He was hit constantly and was always under pressure. But, this year he has two things going for him. The knowledge that he is the starting quarterback from week one. And a new head coach who has experience working with and developing quarterbacks.
As Haskins gets more time to develop a relationship with his wide receivers and receives mentoring from Ron Rivera, he can only really go up.
Throw for Over 25 Touchdowns
Just how good Haskins can improve is up to him, but once he gets the hang of the speed of the NFL he is going to start gaining confidence. That confidence will be spurred also from the fact that the Washington defense might keep games close and give Haskins a chance to win.
With Adrian Peterson getting up there in years, Washington might throw the ball more this year. Haskins will definitely still have growing pains and his interception mark may not be that much lower than his touchdowns, but he will find success through the air is 2020.
