Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans)
Why is the NFL leading rusher on this list? Simple. It’s hard to come back the next year with the same success. While Derrick Henry is indeed a beast, many are wondering if this was just a fluke year or the beginning of something special? In 2019, Henry led the league with 1540 yards but also led the league with 303 attempts. Something has to give here.
All eyes will be on Henry to see of the Tennessee Titans will try to duplicate their success. If so, there is a strong possibility they could run Henry into the ground. If Ryan Tannehill can get another legit wide receiver, this should take some of the pressure off Henry.
Entering his 5th season in the league, Henry doesn’t have the mileage on him that other running backs will have due to his first two years in the league where he only rushed the ball a combined 286 times. He was due for a breakout year.
This offseason, the Titans resigned Tannehill to a long-term deal but put the Franchise Tag on Henry. This could be a way to seek a longer deal or a way for the Titans to see what type of back they have before committing.
