San Francisco 49ers

Big news broke the other day that San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert requested to be traded. This is a massive blow to an offense that used the committee approach so effectively last season. The 49ers also lost Matt Breida to the Miami Dolphins earlier in the offseason. Adding another fast back like Phillip Lindsay would be perfect for San Francisco.

The 49ers running backs all fit the same mold. They are incredibly fast, have great vision, and are great at slashing through defenses. Lindsay would be a perfect fit. He is one of the best slashing backs in the league. San Francisco runs a zone scheme, and have better lineman than the Broncos. The rotation means the small framed Lindsay can stay fresh throughout the season. The 49ers offense won’t miss a beat if they trade for Lindsay.

Lindsay also brings stability. Although he won’t need to serve as the bell-cow back, Lindsay can. That is vital because Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon are both injury prone. Lindsay could take over as a feature back if either of those two backs go down with injury. The 49ers offense is built on the run game. Lindsay gives them a good shot at returning to the Super Bowl.
