Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are in need of a running back. David Johnson is not the All-Pro running back he was in 2016. In fact if you look at his YPC he never was an elite running back. Duke Johnson is talented, but at his best when he is fresh. Adding Phillip Lindsay gives the Texans a reliable every down back. This will take pressure off Deshaun Watson, who as of right now, is the only reliable player Houston has on offense.

The Texans run a zone scheme, so Lindsay can use his speed and vision to cut upfield. Laremy Tunsil is one of the best tackles in the NFL. Having a solid left tackle means the Texans can run outside or inside zone plays effectively. When Lindsay gets on the outside, very few linebackers can catch him.

Houston traded away their best weapon in DeAndre Hopkins. Houston added Brandin Cooks to replace him. Cooks is a deep threat receiver who relies on his incredible speed to get behind the secondary. Cooks joins Will Fuller who has a very similar game. The best way to beat opposing secondaries is to have them creep up and play the run. Adding Lindsay will force defenses to do just that. Then it’s bombs away in Houston.
