4. Derek Carr vs. Carolina Panthers
There has been a lot of talk about Derek Carr since the end of the 2019 season and he’s going to need to prove himself in 2020. Going up against the Carolina Panthers, he will have a great matchup to begin his make-or-break campaign.
With real weaknesses on the edges, at linebacker, and in the secondary, there is plenty of potential for opposing quarterbacks to take advantage when facing the Panthers. The Raiders have plenty of problematic matchups for Carolina, in particular.
The Raiders used the 2020 NFL Draft to add Henry Ruggs III to the offense. For an already talented unit, having a field-stretching presence of that nature could really open things up. With Josh Jacobs in the backfield and Darrell Waller at tight end, Las Vegas should thrive against the Panthers.
Expect quarterbacks facing the Panthers to have big performances throughout the 2020 season. Carr will kick things off in this regard and don’t be surprised to see him surpass 300 yards passing and register around 3 touchdown throws.
