Kenny Willekes — Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have shown in recent seasons that they are really good at finding formidable edge rushers in middle rounds. In the past 11 years, they’ve discovered Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter in the third and fourth rounds respectively.
Meanwhile, in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Vikings selected Ifeadi Odenigbo in the seventh round. With Odenigbo expected to replace Griffen in 2020, Minnesota is hoping to see Kenny Willekes — who they took in the seventh round in this year’s draft — make a difference on the defense next season.
While Willekes doesn’t have any dominant traits as a pass rusher, he was extremely productive in his last three seasons at Michigan State, recording 23.5 sacks and 49 tackles for loss from 2017-2019. Seeing that Minnesota tends to utilize their group of edge rushers, Willekes could see some snaps in 2020.
