5 NFL teams who should still pursue a Yannick Ngakoue trade

New York Jets

Jets Receive: Yannick Ngakoue and a First Round Pick (via LA Rams)
Jaguars Receive: Jamal Adams and a Fifth Round Pick

It’s safe to say this would be a blockbuster trade. It makes sense for both teams however. Although Jamal Adams is a Pro Bowl talent, rumors are circulating that he isn’t happy with how New York is handling his contract extension talks. It is a similar situation in Jacksonville.

The Jets get a first-round pick they can use to continue rebuilding. They also get a talented player for someone who is more than likely is entering free agency next season. The Jaguars get a perennial Pro Bowl safety who could be the cornerstone of a rebuilt defense.

Another fact is that these players fill needs, and there is depth at their position. The Jets can move safety Marcus Maye to strong safety and start rookie Ashtyn Davis. The Jaguars have K’Lavon Chaisson, Josh Allen, and Dawuane Smoot off the edge. However, New York has little depth off the edge and are starting rookie Jabari Zuniga. Meanwhile, Jacksonville can move Ronnie Harrison to free safety to start instead of Jarrod Wilson.

This trade would be a blockbuster, but it does make sense for both parties involved. Sometimes the worst thing a team can do is lose their star player without getting anything in return.
