NFL: 7 moves we’d like to see get done before the 2020 season

7. Browns Trade David Njoku to Washington

The Washington Football Team is still in the midst of a rebuilding process and with that comes plenty of holes on the roster. The tight end spot certainly ranks high on this list after the retirement of Vernon Davis and the decision to release Jordan Reed.

There isn’t much for Dwayne Haskins to work with when evaluating the options he has to throw to in the passing game. The standout receiver Terry McLaurin is the clear No. 1 option, but outside of him, there isn’t much. The season-ending injury to Kelvin Harmon only worsened this, too.

Going out and acquiring a tight end like David Njoku would help add some layers to Washington’s offense. The current options are underwhelming when Jeremy Sprinkle has struggled in training camp and the others in the running are Marcus Baugh, Richard Rodgers, and Hale Hentges.

A trade that sends Njoku to Washington certainly wouldn’t turn things around for the 2020 NFL season. However, it at least would allow the young tight end to have a feature role and give a second-year quarterback with potential another weapon on offense.
