2. Jadeveon Clowney Signs with Ravens
Coming off a 14-2 regular-season record in 2019, the Baltimore Ravens will look to build on that in a way that translates to success in the playoffs. One way to accomplish this would be to add another proficient edge defender like Jadeveon Clowney into the mix.
With the Ravens’ decision to move on from Earl Thomas, they now hold roughly $16.6 million in salary-cap space. It wouldn’t put them quite at the bar of $17 million that Clowney has previously reportedly held, but it at least puts them well within striking distance.
The Ravens already put together an impressive offseason in terms of adding talent on defense with Calais Campbell and Derek Wolfe. Managing to insert Clowney into the mix would make Baltimore’s unit all the more intriguing heading into the 2020 season.
It seems this is more of a matter of Clowney being willing to lower his expectations a bit when it comes to his next contract. Even if it were just a one-year deal, he could enter free agency in 2021 after making a substantial impact for a contender.
