NFL Analyst Calls Broncos Trade Idea A ‘Death Sentence’ For Aaron Rodgers

There has been a lot of discussions already about where Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could end up playing in 2022. Many rumors have been connecting him to the Denver Broncos. The Packers suffered another excruciating defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in their Divisional Round matchup and that could very well be the last time we see Rodgers don the green and gold.

Rodgers’ future with the team is up in the air. His relationship with management has been souring for a little while now and things came to a head when they used their 2020 first-round pick on quarterback Jordan Love.

Rodgers responded with an MVP-award winning season in 2020 and could be taking home the award for a second straight season. Despite that, the relationship may be too far gone and a trade is something he could still push for.

There are a ton of teams that would take Rodgers as their starting quarterback. Adding him under center would catapult numerous organizations into being contenders. One of the teams that he has been connected to the most is the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos just hired Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their head coach, which will certainly appeal to Rodgers. Denver also has the capital to swing a deal for Davante Adams, who is a free agent and showed interest in remaining in tandem with Rodgers.

Denver is seemingly going all-in on courting Aaron Rodgers to help fix their quarterback issues. This would be reminiscent of when they acquired Peyton Manning from the Indianapolis Colts, but Rodgers doesn’t have the injury concerns and looks to have a lot more left in the tank.

While this seems like a great plan, NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky believes ending up with the Broncos would be a death sentence for Rodgers.

“Going to Denver is a death sentence,” Orlovsky said, via NESN.” “I mean, you’re going into the division with the guy that has been in the last four AFC Championship Games in Patrick Mahomes. You’re going into a division that’s got Justin Herbert in it. You’re going into a conference that’s got a guy that’s playing this weekend in the AFC Championship Game in Joe Burrow. You’re also going into a conference that has a guy who threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns and lost last weekend in Josh Allen and then a guy who won the MVP of the league three years ago in Lamar Jackson.”

The AFC West is one of the toughest divisions in the league. Orlovsky mentions the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, but the Las Vegas Raiders aren’t slouches. There is certainly a lot of talent in the AFC, as Orlovsky points out, but the NFC isn’t a cakewalk either.

The NFC West is just as loaded as their AFC counterparts. Tom Brady resides in the NFC with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well, and he was knocked off by Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.

While Orlovsky’s sentiment is understandable, the Broncos look like they are a quarterback away from being a very competitive team. They went 7-7 with Teddy Bridgewater this season; imagine what that offense will look like with Rodgers under center.

Even if Adams doesn’t follow, Denver has a great core offensive with wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and K.J. Hamler, running backs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon and tight ends Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam.

Winning in the AFC West would certainly be more challenging than the NFC North has been, but the Broncos have a lot of the pieces in place to be successful with a quarterback as talented as Aaron Rodgers leading the offense.
