The Aaron Rodgers situation continues to drag on with the 2023 NFL Draft almost here. Both the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets would love to get a deal done, but they both seem to be dug in on the asking price. At this point in time, no one truly knows what will end up happening with this situation.
No one truly knows what is going on behind the scenes. Rodgers has come out and openly stated that he wants to play for the Jets, but the Packers aren’t simply going to give him away for whatever New York chooses to offer.
With all of the drama going on, one NFL analyst did not hold back on his thoughts about Rodgers. Colin Cowherd ripped into the superstar quarterback in a segment on his show.
“He’s getting what he wants. He’s more committed to the chess match than winning.”
While there are differing viewpoints on who has the leverage in trade talks, there is no question that the Packers are in control. Aaron Rodgers is still under contract with Green Bay while the Jets have been openly stating that he will be their next quarterback.

It will be interesting to see what the final outcome of this situation ends up being. Some believe that the Packers are searching for a second-round pick this year and a first-round pick in 2024. They are also reportedly willing to give value back to the Jets if Rodgers chooses to retire after one season.
On the other hand, the Jets seem to want to get Rodgers for much less value than that.
All of that being said, this situation may be far from over. The Packers would love to make a deal before the 2023 NFL Draft, but they aren’t going to force the issue. New York may need to step up and offer what Green Bay wants for Aaron Rodgers if they want to get this deal done.
