The football world is patiently waiting to see what is next in the Aaron Rodgers saga. The superstar quarterback recently went on a darkness retreat to help figure out the next steps of his career. All signs point to him returning to the field for at least one more season, but with what franchise is the question.

There have been some reports that the Green Bay Packers are ready to move on from him. In that scenario, Aaron Rodgers would be traded and the team would turn to Jordan Love to take over as the starting quarterback.

The market for Aaron Rodgers could be robust despite the large contract that he possesses. The asking price for him could be as much as two first-round draft picks as well, which normally would be a deterrent. However, multiple franchises believe if they added him to their lineup, they would be Super Bowl contenders.

While there have been mock trades done with the usual suspects, such as the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, one NFL analyst suggested a dark horse landing spot. Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated suggested the Seattle Seahawks as one of the five best fits for Aaron Rodgers.

There would have to be a lot figured out by the Seahawks before jumping into the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes. Geno Smith is a pending free agent and would cost a fraction of the price that Aaron Rodgers would. But, should negotiations with him go south, Seattle does have the means to make a splash.

The Seahawks have a good amount of cap space, which would be needed to accommodate the large contract. They are also flush with draft capital from the Denver Broncos in the Russell Wilson trade.

Closer to becoming contenders than rebuilding, as many predicted they would be doing after trading Wilson, the Seahawks certainly make for an intriguing landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. Ultimately, while there could certainly be a fit given the talent already in place on the roster, it doesn’t seem like too realistic of a landing spot.

Aaron Rodgers leading an offense with D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Kenneth Walker III would be a lot of fun. But, it would likely be best for the Seahawks to stay the current course and continue building up the weaknesses on the team. Even if Aaron Rodgers was added, this isn’t a championship-caliber defense yet and bringing him on would handicap them in terms of the additions they would be capable of making.
