On the eve of Super Bowl Sunday, multiple sources have confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles are open to the idea of trading Haason Reddick during this offseason.

Reddick, who is heading into the final year of his lucrative three-year, $45 million contract signed ahead of the 2022 season, is reportedly seeking a substantial increase in salary, aiming for an average of $25 million annually.

Despite delivering stellar performances over the last couple of seasons in Philadelphia, Reddick’s advancing age, set to turn 30 in September, and his lofty financial demands appear to be diverging from the Eagles’ valuation.

Anticipating potential interest from several NFL teams, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is likely to field inquiries about Reddick in the ensuing months. Among the prospective suitors, the Houston Texans have emerged as a notable contender, according to insights from Pro Football Focus.

The Texans surprised many with their impressive performance in 2023, propelled significantly by the standout performances of offensive phenom CJ Stroud and defensive stalwart Will Anderson, both recipients of Rookie of the Year honors.

With Stroud and Anderson not due for significant pay raises for at least two more seasons, the Texans’ front office finds itself in a favorable financial position to accommodate Reddick’s salary demands.

Pro Football Focus projects that a trade involving Reddick could yield the Eagles a valuable second-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, slotting in at No. 59 overall.

While the prospect of parting ways with Reddick may not sit well with all Eagles fans, there is a consensus that acquiring assets in exchange for him now would be preferable to risking his departure as a free agent next year. Moreover, the Eagles proactively secured Reddick’s potential successor by investing a first-round pick in Nolan Smith last year.

Considering the potential trade scenario, receiving a second-round pick seems like a fair return for Reddick’s services. Howie Roseman, known for his shrewd negotiation tactics, is likely to exercise patience in the trade discussions to secure the most advantageous deal for the Eagles’ future.
