NFL.com Predicts Packers Will Snag Playmaking WR In Second Round

Packers, NFL Draft

One of the teams that will be in the market for a wide receiver during the 2022 NFL Draft is the Green Bay Packers. It would not be surprising if Green Bay targeted that position early and often as they have a lot of pass-catching production they need to replace.

Star wide receiver Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, creating a huge void atop the wide receiver depth chart. That was a big blow, but his loss was compounded when No. 2 receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling also departed in free agency, signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

That leaves Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers as the top target for Aaron Rodgers currently. That is something that must change in the coming weeks, and luckily for Green Bay, the draft will present ample opportunities to do so.

Armed with two first-round picks and two second-round picks, one of each was courtesy of the Raiders for Adams, the Packers are in a great spot to add some pass catchers to the roster. One player that NFL.com believes they will end up with is Western Michigan wide receiver, Skyy Moore.

Moore was very productive in his three seasons with the Broncos, catching 171 passes for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns in 30 games. He would certainly be an upgrade for the Packers’ passing game out of the gate as a threat in the slot.

Moore isn’t afraid to work over the middle of the field and into the toughest parts of the defense. He is a contested-catch maestro no matter where he is lined up. Eventually, if he hones his craft, he could move to the perimeter of the offense, but for now, his best work will come from the slot.

Needing help across the board, the Packers would welcome a new slot target to the mix. Moore doesn’t possess burning speed or elite athleticism, but has solid footwork and can create some space with how well he moves his feet.

Adding Moore to the mix after using a first-round pick on someone such as Treylon Burks, George Pickens or Jameson Williams would certainly make Rodgers happy and help fill the void atop the team’s depth chart at wide receiver.
