Van Jefferson Standing Out for Rams

The Los Angeles Rams decided to move on from Brandin Cooks earlier in the offseason by trading him to the Houston Texans. The move created a real pathway for a talent on the roster to take over the No. 3 role alongside Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

With Kupp sidelined recently from participating in training camp due to injuries, rookie wideout Van Jefferson has taken on a larger role for the Rams–making the most of it.

Jefferson has made a positive impact throughout Rams camp so far. In fact, Jared Goff has taken notice of it and had plenty of positive things to say about the No. 57 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“It’s little things every day,” Goff said, via Gary Klein of Los Angeles Times. “Making plays, making catches, running great routes, strong hands.”

It’s helpful for the Rams to be able to see what Jefferson is capable of filling in for one of the team’s top receivers now in the event an injury were to occur during the regular season.

Additionally, it will be important for Jefferson to showcase his potential as a rookie considering Kupp is entering the final year of his current contract. With the Rams having a restrictive salary cap situation, Jefferson may need to be ready to take on a larger role in 2021.
