NFL Exec Makes Bold Trade Prediction For Bears’ Justin Fields

There isn’t a team in the NFL that is as much of a mess as the Chicago Bears right now. While they aren’t the only 0-4 team, as the Carolina Panthers also hold that distinction, the outlook for Chicago seems bleaker.

That is saying something because it is the Bears who own the Panthers’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With how things have gone thus far this season, there is certainly a chance that Chicago will come away with the No. 1 pick for a second straight year while also owning the No. 2 pick courtesy of Carolina.

The Bears could be in such a situation because they committed to Justin Fields as their quarterback during the 2023 offseason. They had the chance to select a new quarterback in this year’s draft had they wanted to, but opted to trade the No. 1 pick to Carolina, cementing their faith in Fields.

Alas, that faith doesn’t seem to be shared. A former NFL executive who spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes that Fields’ time in the Windy City will come to an end after this season. A big reason for that is both sides no longer being on the same page.

“The Bears are going to move on from Justin Fields. He has lost trust in the organization. I don’t see him sticking around past this season.”

At this point in time, a divorce seems to be best for both sides. Fields has already made some damning comments about the Bears’ coaching staff, as he blamed them for his struggles early on in the season.

Based on the scheme Chicago runs offensively, Fields isn’t a fit for this coaching staff either. For whatever reason, Matt Eberflus and his coaches want to turn Fields into a pocket passer. They aren’t calling anywhere near as many run plays as in years past and the results have been disastrous.

Landing with a coaching staff that is led by an offensive-minded group of people could do wonders for Fields. There is certainly a lot of work for Fields to do as a passer and to become a franchise quarterback. But, he possesses a ton of talent to develop within him, something Eberflus and his staff have done nothing but stunt during their time together.
