NFL Exec Makes Intriguing Comments About Packers’ Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers season seemingly went from bad to worse when Aaron Rodgers was forced out of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12. Rodgers was already dealing with a thumb injury that he suffered in Week 5 against the New York Giants, which he recently revealed was broken. Now, he is dealing with a rib injury that was suffered against Philadelphia.

Rodgers attempted to tough it out, but he was removed from the game in the third quarter. That thrust Jordan Love into the lineup as he played the entire fourth quarter for the team. Despite the small sample size, he did play very well.

Love completed 6-of-9 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown to Christian Watson. That is a combination we could see a lot of down the stretch of the season as Rodgers could sit out some games once the Packers are mathematically eliminated from the postseason. With only a two percent chance of making the playoffs and given the injuries he is dealing with, that could happen sooner than later.

It is something that likely needs to happen as Love’s future is unknown. No one knows what to make of him after he was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft but has sat behind Rodgers ever since. He has made one career start and appeared in some garbage time, so there isn’t much to go off of other than preseason.

Despite that, some people are impressed by what they have seen. One AFC executive that spoke to NFL insider Jordan Schultz would fall into that group, as they liked what they saw from the Utah State product.

“[Jordan Love] looked like a different quarterback. His decisiveness and confidence running that offense. … Not a lot of plays to go from, but still impressive.”

When Love entered the game against the Eagles, the contest was not decided. He played against the regular Philadelphia defense and performed about as well as you could have asked him to. He knew where to put the ball and delivered it with some zip, as the confidence the executive mentioned was evident.

His performance also impressed players on the Eagles. Darius Slay, who is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and has played against a ton of quarterbacks in his career, shared some praise for Love as well earlier this week.

These next few weeks will be very important for him as Love could be auditioning for a starting job in 2023. Whether it is with the Packers or another organization, potentially having the chance to put some regular season play on tape will go a long way for Love.
